Mildly toxic by ingestion, inhalation, and subcutaneous routes. Exposure to concentrations of about 1000 ppm for 1 hour can cause headache, fatigue, pulmonary irritation, and serious toxicity effects. Highly flammable liquid when exposed to heat or flame; can react vigorously with reducing materials. Moderately explosive in the form of vapor when exposed to heat or flame. To fight fire, use alcohol foam, CO₂, dry chemical. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and fumes.
