Sodium cyclamate has moderately toxic by intravenous and intraperitoneal routes. Mildly toxic by ingestion. Experimental reproductive effects. Questionable carcinogen with experimental neoplastigenic, tumorigenic, and teratogenic data. Human mutation data reported. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of Na₂O, SO_x, and NO_x.
