Poison by intravenous route. Mildly toxic by inhalation. Human systemic effects by inhalation: hallucinations. Narcotic in high concentrations. A volatile, flammable liquid when exposed to heat or flame. Can react vigorously with oxidizing materials. Moderately explosive when exposed to heat or flame. Violent reaction with phosphorus + chlorine. To fight fire, use foam, CO₂, dry chemical. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and fumes.
