Human systemic effects by ingestion: cardiomyopathy. cerebral spinal fluid changes, distorted perceptions, hallucinations, headache, toxic psychosis. An experimental teratogen. Other experimental reproductive effects. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of Br−, SOx, and NOx.
