Safety

Poison by intraperitoneal route. Moderately toxic by subcutaneous route. Used as an antipeptic ulcer agent. When Detralfate (CAS NO.37209-31-7) is heated to decomposition ,it emits toxic fumes of SO_x and Na₂O. See also DEXTRAN SULFATE SODIUM.
