Poison by ingestion and intraperitoneal routes. Moderately toxic by subcutaneous route. Human systemic effects: changes in kidney tubules, hematuria. An experimental teratogen. Experimental reproductive effects. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of SO_x. Used as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent.
