Poison by ingestion, intraperitoneal, and subcutaneous routes. Mildly toxic by inhalation. A skin, eye, and mucous membrane irritant. Questionable carcinogen with experimental tumorigenic data. Can react with oxidizing materials. When heated to decomposition, or on contact with acid or acid fumes, it emits highly toxic fumes of SO_x.
