Human systemic effects by ingestion: Sodium level changes, CHLORINE level changes, acute pulmonary edema, nausea or vomiting. Experimental reproductive effects. Questionable carcinogen with experimental tumorigenic data. Mutation data reported. A diuretic. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of SO_x, Cl^?, and NO_x.
