Poison by ingestion, subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous routes. Human systemic effects by subcutaneous route: allergic dermatitis and sweating. Used as a synthetic cholinergic drug. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of NH₃, NO_x, and Cl^?. See also CARBAMATES.
