J Raul Rivera S.A. de C.V. is an export company that produces processes and export Peru Balsam. Balsam of Peru is used as an antibacterial, antifungal and antiparasitic agent, in cases of scabies, ringworm, lice, superficial ulcerations, wounds, bedsores & chilblains. It is also used for bronchitis, laryngitis, dysmenorrhea, diarrohea, dysentery and leucorrhea. Its leaves and fruit are used for asthma, colds, flu, rheumatism & external wounds. Powdered bark of balsam is applied as a deodorant under the arm.
Application of Peru Balsam
The gum has a vanilla-like smell & taste, and is used in the fragrance & health industries. Balsam is used topically for scabies, prurigo, ruritus & acute eczema, as well as taken internally for asthma & bronchitis, and to generally lessen mucous secretions.
It is used extensively in topical preparations for the treatment of wounds, ulcers and scabies. It is found in diaper rash ointments, hair tonics, anti dandruff preparations & feminine hygiene sprays, and as a natural fragrance in soaps, detergents, creams, lotions & perfumes.
Foods Flavourings
Our Peru Balsam at 40 ppm gives a somewhat bitter, woody & vanillic initial impression, which can be burning to the throat for some individuals, & leave a somewhat persistent after-taste. It enjoys extensive use in flavorings, this extends to baked goods, frozen dairy products, softy confectionery & chocolate, gelatin puddings, non-alcoholic beverages - especially cola types, alcoholic beverages - such as vermouth & bitters, hard confectionery.
Cosmetics Applications
The mild antiseptic and skin soothing properties of Peru balsam have led to the use to its use as an ingredient in soaps & detergents, where it also has some influence on the skin-feel of the lather produced. It is used in hair preparations and as a fragrance ingredient in perfumed creams, lotions, sunscreens, suntan lotions & feminine sprays.
