Moderately toxic by intravenous route. Human systemic effects by ingestion: developmental abnormalities of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems; effects on newborn in biochemical and metabolic abnormalities and reduced growth statistics. A human teratogen. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of NO_x. A beta-adrenergic blocker.
