Moderately toxic by ingestion. Experimental reproductive effects. A skin irritant. Violent reaction when heated with oxidants (e.g., potassium nitrate, selenium dioxide, and sodium chlorate). When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of Cl−. See CHLORINATED HYDROCARBONS, AROMATIC.
